Part 1: Accountable – The Values that Guide Orthopedic & Spine Therapy

Over the last 30+ years that Orthopedic & Spine Therapy has been in business, we’ve been guided by a set of values. Many times, values are something that exist in an employee manual or as part of a vision statement or business plan, but we want to make them public and clear.

At Orthopedic & Spine Therapy, we hold 6 values. These are things our team uses in how we find and hire therapists, patient care coordinators, billing specialists, and administrative staff. These are the values that help us make decisions as a business to make sure we’re continuing on the path we’ve set for ourselves.

In this blog series, we are going to be naming and talking through what each value means to the Orthopedic & Spine Therapy team and why we hold them as part of our core values.

The 6 Core Values of Orthopedic & Spine Therapy:

  1. Accountable
  2. Positive and Cheerful
  3. Confident yet Humble
  4. Motivated
  5. Compassionate
  6. Flexible

Accountable

At Orthopedic & Spine Therapy, accountability means that we take ownership of our own actions and how they impact patients, referring physicians, coworkers, and the community. Accountability means accepting the responsibility that comes with being medical professionals tasked with patient care.

Each member of our team is accountable for:

  • Serving our patients with effective physical therapy.
  • Serving referring physicians as partners in caring for patients.
  • Being good stewards of our time so each patient gets the care they need.
  • Effective documentation, plans of care, progress notes, and patient communication.
  • Accurate billing information and communication with patients and insurance companies

With this value of accountability, our team creates systems, hiring practices, development plans, reward structures, and care plans. It helps us continually keep the values we hold high as the northern star to help us continue to treat patients in Wisconsin so they can experience better health and mobility in their lives.
