Resolved to Desire Gratitude

The theme this month as we begin year 2025, is to set small goals so that you don’t “feel” deflated.  New Year’s resolutions, if you have them, might tend to fall by the wayside after a few months of “trying”. So, small goals make sense. Something that you can easily tackle. Let me make this simple. The small goal that I here suggest for the coming year is not something you do, but something you are…Grateful. Everyone can be grateful for being able to work on your health, like lowering blood pressure, or sheading weight. Oh boy, I just named two things that we often think of that would definitely improve our overall health situation, and you might be thinking, “I see what you did there,” but have you ever thought about the ability to be grateful?  I have.  I think about it every day.  Even when it is hard.

Honestly, I know this may be really hard if your struggling with bodily aliments like back, neck, spinal pain, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, foot, jaw pain, or any other part of the body that is not functioning as well as you would like. How can I possibly be thankful for that?  I would like to suggest that it is exactly why OST is here.

As caregivers, our charge comes in giving, much more than receiving. Our culture at OST is directed toward being the best and delivering the best care for what we have received in the form of training and growth. Teaming with you is our privilege and our niche of Manual Therapy will help you get there. So, if you are currently in a plan with us or considering starting a plan of care to work on yourself, then you can count on us to help meet your goals. Together we meet the needs of the people in communities we live.  So, I am grateful when I am able to apply our core values of being Accountable, being Positive and cheerful, being confident yet humble, being motivated, having compassion, and being flexible with day to day processes.

The spirit of gratitude is something that we need to be reminding ourselves every day. Not just on that day in November. We are grateful for the opportunities to build relationships day by day in our interactions with you and each other.  Everyone can be happy about a great outcome in your care.  We can be grateful to be able to work at your health and then one day be exceedingly filled with gratitude for the opportunities that are afford us. Desire Gratitude!

As this year begins, I am contemplating retirement.  I am exceedingly grateful to have spent 40 years in this wonderful profession of Physical Therapy and my 26+ years at OST. Have a wonderful and prosperous 2025!  I know I will!
