What We Treat
- Shoulder pathologies: frozen shoulder, arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair
- Occupational Therapists are skilled musculoskeletal providers when it comes to your upper extremities (think shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, hands and fingers). Coupled with trigger point release/dry needling, exercise programming, and overall joint and tissue mobilizations, OT’s are skilled in activity analysis and modifications. This means that if pain or dysfunction is getting in the way of completing activities you love, we can help modify HOW you do them. Our knowledge of the body and systems work together help us in being creative when it comes to getting tasks completed.
- Elbow and hand: cubital/carpal tunnel, fractures, tendon and nerve injuries
- Occupational Therapists are expert providers when it comes to treating conditions affecting the upper extremities—shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, hands, and fingers. Along with techniques like trigger point release, dry needling, tailored exercise programs, and joint and tissue mobilizations, OTs specialize in analyzing and modifying activities. If pain or dysfunction is preventing you from doing the things you enjoy, we can help adjust how you approach those tasks. By understanding the body’s systems and how they interact, we bring creative solutions to help you get back to what matters most.
- Neurological disorders
- When it comes to a new diagnosis like Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, a stroke or heart condition…oftentimes fear of the unknown can come second to finding out this news. Occupational Therapists are the perfect providers to be your support during this time to educate you in how to best navigate life moving forward. We spend ample time in our clinics educating patients on how they can live their life to the fullest, while doing things they want and need to do! It can be as simple as taking a shower and getting dressed or focusing on how to modify some of your favorite activities. Our approach to care is more than just exercises, we meet the psychosocial needs you come with as well, because each person’s body and diagnosis can present in a unique way.
- Chronic condition management: cancer, fibromyalgia, arthritis
- Occupational Therapists are uniquely equipped to guide and support you through this challenging journey. We dedicate significant time in our clinics to help patients learn how to adapt and live their lives to the fullest, balancing the activities they love with the things they need to do. Whether it’s as simple as showering and dressing or finding ways to modify your favorite hobbies, we’re here to help. Our care goes beyond just physical exercises; we also address your emotional and social well-being, understanding that every individual’s experience with their body and diagnosis is different.
- Balance and fall prevention
- Our goal is to not only prevent falls but promote longevity! As we age, our bodies change along with our strength and overall sense of balance. Several things can affect your body’s ability to stay upright, but don’t wait until you experience a fall to be seen for your balance. We provided quarterly FREE balance screens to assess your baseline and determine if therapy may be a good fit for you. Our balance sessions include targeted exercises, education in safely navigating home and community environments, training in use of adaptive equipment and tips and tricks to live your safest life. We don’t stop with the basics – we want to see you thrive in the community with your friends and family, without fear of falling.
- Women’s health and pelvic floor therapy
- OT’s in pelvic floor therapy take a whole-person, function-based approach to assess how pelvic floor dysfunction may be impacting daily life, habits, routines and psychological factors. We bring in our training of sensory processing, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed care and functional strategies to help patients manage symptoms in real-world contexts. OTs can address pelvic health needs through ADLs – things like toileting, dressing, intimacy, functional mobility, habits and we often focus on behavioral and environmental modifications. We are also trained in the anatomy and physiology of the abdominal cavity and pelvic floor to assist with strength training and pressure management. Our goal is to meet patient’s where they’re at in their journey and work together to meet specific goals created by the patient. There is no age limit to address what is happening in your body. Although symptoms like pain, incontinence, and urgency or common, they aren’t normal.
- Deconditioning due to illness or inactivity
- If you have had a recent illness that left you feeling weaker than before, or especially a hospitalization, seeing an Occupational Therapist may be exactly what your body needs. OT’s can help you complete your daily tasks with less effort by making modifications, or adapting your environment, while giving your body the tools it needs to recover. Our bodies crave mindful movement as well as margin for rest, in order to get back to our baseline independence.

Preparation for a major surgery IS the key to a successful recovery. This session can include education in the surgery and their precautions, training in transfers/stairs/and how to get dressed safely, exercises to complete before hand along with just spending time with a healthcare professional to answer those questions that may arise before you have a surgery. Patients who receive a pre-operative evaluation leave their appointment feeling confident and supported on what lies ahead.
What does an Occupational Therapist Do?
Occupational Therapists are skilled healthcare professionals who use research and scientific evidence to ensure their treatment improves a person’s ability to engage in their daily occupations confidently and safely.
With a strong knowledge of a person’s psychological, physical, emotional and social makeup, occupational therapy practitioners can evaluate how your condition (or risk for one) is affecting your body and mind, using a whole-person approach to treatment.
Sessions with our OT’s can range from specific exercises to improve strength and endurance, manual therapy to relieve tension, activity analysis to modify tasks to promote independence, consultation and education in a new or pre-existing diagnosis, or simply being your healthcare liaison in the community to assist you in connecting the dots on your wellness journey.
